With the recent passing of U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy, Jaime Molera remembered his encounter with the Senator 2 years ago. “When Senator Kennedy found out I was born in Nogales, he proceeded to tell me how he barnstormed rural AZ in a single-engine plane during the 1960 campaign. He then told me how a military jet ‘chased his @*% outta Yuma airspace!’ In front of the crowd I then said, it was probably Barry Goldwater in the jet! Without missing a beat he then replied ‘Nah, if it was old Barry he woulda pulled the trigger!’”

MAG Partner Ruben Alvarez has been recently elected Secretary/Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Latino Leaders Network. The Latino Leaders Network (LLN) is a Washington, DC based non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to develop ongoing opportunities for “Bringing Leaders Together” to establish relationships and dialogue on issues important to the Latino community.
Signature events include the Latino Leaders Luncheon Series (LLLS), the Latino Issue Hour and the Latino Mayors Tribute. Additionally, LLN publishes the Latino Leaders Network Online Directory, the first ever directory highlighting Latinos serving members of Congress and the Administration.

Creating public awareness for higher education in Arizona, Solutions Through Higher Education helped to celebrate mentors at the mentor appreciation luncheon with Arizona Quest For Kids. President of the Arizona Board of Regents, Ernie Calderón spoke to mentors on August 29th, thanking them for their time and commitment and sharing how mentors have impacted his life.
