
The University of Arizona College of Medicine broke ground in Phoenix on May 12, kicking off the new 268,000 sq. ft. health sciences education building. The expanded medical campus will provide the needed space to increase the class size from 48 to 120 taking a critical step toward meeting Arizona’s shortage of doctors, nurses and medical professionals. The groundbreaking was another major step forward, following approval by the Legislature, two Governors, and final review by the Joint Committee on Capital Review. In addition to the UA College of Medicine, the HSEB building will provide space for the UA College of Pharmacy and Northern Arizona University programs for physician assistants, occupational therapy and primary care health professionals.

The 52nd Annual Black and White Ball and Business Awards gala hosted by the Arizona Hispanic Chamber was held on April 17. The Molera Alvarez Group partners, Jaime Molera and Ruben Alvarez were the recipients of the Entrepreneurs of the Year Award. The Molera Alvarez Group would like to congratulate the other award winners, Mario Diaz for Man of the Year; Lisa Urias for Woman of the Year; American Express Corporation for Corpoation of the Year; and Former Governor, Raul H. Castro, as the Arizona Legacy Award recipient.
Solutions Through Higher Education’s luncheon featuring Phoenix City Manager, David Cavazos, as the keynote speaker discussed the impact investing in higher education from a city perspective. The investment being made in Arizona State University and the University of Arizona has aided in the transformation of downtown Phoenix. One of the many ways Phoenix has benefited is through job grown and economic development.
